Who is this guy? Campbell Vertesi is an operatic bass, of the very low sort. His fach is sometimes called "Basso Profundo" - that's Italian for "he sings really low." Even lower than most basses, which is a bit frightening. He specializes in bass roles like Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), and Colline (La Bohème). This site chronicles Campbell's progress as he begins a career as a young opera singer. Thanks for the comments!
It's an odd thing to explore, to be sure. Typically I have no problem "losing myself" and becoming a character onstage. My other characters hit people, kill them, and take their souls... and I have no trouble going to those places.
I don't think it's a guilt thing either. This is my job, after all. And Bryn has had plenty of stage kisses etc. Heck, I spent all summer having simulated sex in Central City's Don Giovanni!
Anyways, I have rehearsal on Monday, and I've played with my character a bit to make it easier. I'll be sure to let you all know what happens!
