Who is this guy? Campbell Vertesi is an operatic bass, of the very low sort. His fach is sometimes called "Basso Profundo" - that's Italian for "he sings really low." Even lower than most basses, which is a bit frightening. He specializes in bass roles like Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), and Colline (La Bohème). This site chronicles Campbell's progress as he begins a career as a young opera singer. giacomini though has not been heard of nearly as much as the other dramatic tenors, there are plenty of dramatic tenors out there and there have been in the past, how could you dare not list vickers before domingo. the difference between the dramatic tenor and the baritone is tessitura, that's all. giacomini drowns out milnes on the A at the end of hte si pel ciel, but milnes has never failed to drown out domingo on any high note, especially the A in si pel ciel, does that make giacomini a super dramatic tenor, does that make milnes a dramatic tenor more than domingo is? domingo is a dramatic actor, i wouldn't say his voice suits the dramatic tenor sort too much. maybe a lyric tenor with some spinto qualities.
but of course i am biased, i hate domingo, and love milnes
