Who is this guy? Campbell Vertesi is an operatic bass, of the very low sort. His fach is sometimes called "Basso Profundo" - that's Italian for "he sings really low." Even lower than most basses, which is a bit frightening. He specializes in bass roles like Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), and Colline (La Bohème). This site chronicles Campbell's progress as he begins a career as a young opera singer. It's true, Campbell. Administrators (for the most part) do care how their young artists are and it really shows that you care enough about the sustainability of your career to take the time to work on your technique. It will only help you in the long run and when you show all of the improvements you've made, companies will only be more wiling to hire someone who can continually learn and develop. I applaud your efforts, wish you the best of luck and hope that the move to NYC proves fruitful. :)
Best,
M
